Kata Unger
Berlin-based artist, Kata Unger weaves on a high loom using traditional tapestry techniques, but her vision is anything but conventional. Each thread of wool or silk is dyed and woven by hand, forming images that are mirrored front to back, without the aid of a sketch. Her process is intuitive, architectural, and deeply philosophical.
Kata sees weaving as a binary system: warp and weft echoing the zeros and ones of digital code. Her tapestries become analog screens, pixelated by thread, connecting one of humanity’s oldest crafts to the logic of modern computing.
Inspired by science fiction, tech evolution, and philosophical inquiry, Kata Unger’s woven worlds ask us to rethink the fabric of reality itself.
