Zoul Zurvivor is an installation by Jim Ovelmen that was shown at the Satellite Art Show during last Miami | Basel art week in Florida. This one-night only event is a reprise of this installation including live music by Ohr and Earth Like Planets. Doors open at 7 pm; music 8-10 pm, set times T.B.A.
Zoul Zurvivor a sculptural paper installation resembling an abstracted interior of a stained-glass cathedral. The work and projected animation invites participation by viewers to pose inside the structure. Visitors may don colorful paper-robes and vestiges and enact fictional rituals for photographs. The installation unites patterns common in belief culture, and satires the photo-opportunity of artwork-as-selfie-backdrop. However, the work is intended as a physical shelter for alternate selves that evade the realities of our recent crisp social urges for absolute agreement or opposition on issues.
